Nonwoven Geotextiles

Mirafi® Nonwoven Geotextiles are planar, permeable textile structures produced by mechanically bonding random fibers. Nonwoven geotextiles are used with soil, rock, earth, or any other geotechnical engineering-related material as an integral part of a human-made project, structure, or system.

Mirafi® N-Series

Mirafi® N-Series nonwoven polypropylene geotextiles are used for soil separation, drainage in transportation, building site, and water infrastructure projects such as subsurface drainage, permanent erosion control, and roadway separation applications. Mirafi® N-Series nonwovens combine high water flow rates, high soil interaction, and durability while providing excellent soil particle retention.

APPLICATIONS

Mirafi® N-Series nonwoven polypropylene geotextiles are used in various applications, including filtration, drainage, and separation applications.

• Lightweight nonwovens are predominantly used for subsurface drainage applications along highways, within embankments, under airfields, and athletic fields. For these drainage structures to be effective, they must have a properly designed protective filter.

• Heavyweight nonwovens are used in critical subsurface drainage systems, soil separation, and permanent erosion control, where high installation stresses are expected. These geotextiles provide the required strength and abrasion resistance to withstand installation and application stresses to create an effective, long-term solution

Mirafi® S-Series

Mirafi® S-Series nonwoven polypropylene geotextiles are used to protect environmental, natural resources, and energy infrastructure projects such as liner protection in solid waste landfills, fracking ponds, and other water management systems. Mirafi® S-Series nonwovens provide exceptional durability, high puncture resistance, transmissivity, and permittivity. The S-Series differs from the N-Series in the material weight and thickness are included certified properties of the product.

Mirafi® S-Series nonwoven polypropylene geotextiles are used primarily for cushioning and protection.• Manufactured to a minimum weight and thickness properties, S-Series nonwovens are primarily used in environmental applications

Mirafi® MSCAPE

Mirafi® MSCAPE nonwoven geotextiles are stapled fibers for soil separation and drainage in light-duty landscape applications. This geotextile is designed to withstand many environmental problems found in parks, golf courses, and sports park construction projects.

FEATURES AND BENEFITS

• Inhibits existing weed growth while suppressing new weed growth.

• Permits passage of air and liquids, including fertilizers.

• Prevents “souring” of soil beds associated with impermeable plastic sheets.

• Remains in place and will not rot, mildew, become brittle, or biologically decompose.

• Resists UV rays and extreme temperatures.

• Resists acids, alkalines, common herbicides, insecticides, and fertilizers.• Resists tearing and puncture but can easily be cut to fit any shape using common household scissors for installation.• High friction surface controls migration of common mulches.

• Provides excellent water permeability.

APPLICATIONS

Mirafi® MSCAPE geotextiles are needle-punched, heat-treated nonwoven polypropylene landscape fabrics. Mirafi® MSCAPE has an earth tone color to most closely represent the widest range of soil colors. It is designed specifically to act as a weed barrier, soil separator, and light drainage filter.Mirafi® MSCAPE is inert to biological degradation and resistant to naturally encountered chemicals, alkalis and acids.

Orange Demarcation 401

GEOTEX® DND Orange is a bright orange, nonwoven geotextile that signals excavators from further digging in areas that may have hazards such as buried contaminants, piping, cables or other dangers. This high-visibility demarcation fabric features durable polypropylene staple fibers that are needle punched to form a dimensionally stable network.

 

Features and Benefits

·       Offers high UV rating – 80% for 500 hours – ensuring product will hold-up against UV exposure

·       Danger Do Not Dig/ Peligro No Excavar is directly printed on the fabric eliminating the cost of additional printed tape that requires installation time and frequently does not stay in place

·       Warning message is printed every 24 inches to ensure it appears continuously throughout the ground it is protecting

·       GEOTEX ORANGE DND nonwovens feature 50% elongation, compared to only 10-15% elongation provided by wovens, better protecting against tears over differentially supported trench backfills

·       GEOTEX ORANGE DND offers superior water flow characteristics compared to wovens and slit tape geotextiles, eliminating water ponding, pressure and backfill sliding concerns

·       Provides a cost-effective alternative to removing and transporting contaminants offsite

·       Nonwovens can easily be cut in the field to fit smaller spaces, compared to wovens which require factory selvage edges

·       Complies with Federal and State laws requiring archeological sites be protected from construction impacts

·       Available in multiple product weights, consistent with AASHTO M 288, to meet specification requirements

·       Resistant to biological and chemical environments normally found in soils, preventing breakdown of material over time

GEOTEX® ORANGE DND is a demarcation fabric for applications where digging and excavating is restricted, including:
