Pavement Reinforcement & Asphalt Overlay

The benefits of using a geotextile paving fabric for asphalt overlays are case tested and well-documented. Fabric overlays waterproof the very porous nature of asphalt to prevent water intrusion into the bases of roadways. Fabric overlay systems provide water-proofing, and stress-absorption to extend the lifespan of pavement and roadways.

The Difference a Nonwoven Overlay Makes:

L.E. Geosolutions

L.E. Geosolutions’ glass-fiber (RG) geogrids are used to help retard reflective cracking in the asphaltic layers within flexible and composite pavements. They comprise extremely stiff fiber-glass strands knitted together to form a grid structure and then coated with an elastomeric polymer. For ease of installation, if required, the products can be supplied with adhesive on the underside to help bond them to an existing asphalt surface.

Propex-EnviroPave

For 50 years, the paving industry has relied on PETROMAT® as the most trusted asphalt paving fabric in the market. This year, Propex GeoSolutions is thrilled to launch only PETROMAT® Enviro. Combining innovation and sustainable design, this patent-pending technology is engineered to easily mill into small pieces so it can be recycled into reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP)and used in new hot mix asphalt (HMA) or warm mix asphalt (WMA). Additionally, Enviro provides unmatched moisture protection for roads while absorbing stress to slow fatigue and reflective cracking in asphalt pavement. But recyclable is half the story. Enviro is an engineered interlayer solution that outperforms the competition from start to finish.

Petromat MPV400, MPV500

PETROMAT® engineered paving fabrics are used as a moisture barrier and stress absorbing interlayer beneath flexible pavements such as asphalt overlays or a chip seal. PETROMAT is unchallenged in the industry for asphalt pavement interlayer application. It is AASHTO/NTPEP compliant and is available in a variety of styles to fit your specific project needs and specifications.

EASY & EFFICIENT INSTALLATION

· Engineered with optimal elongation to allow placement directly onto a milled surface

· Flexible design allows smooth, wrinkle-free installation even around curves

· Poses no safety hazard or irritation associated with fiberglass-based products

· Reflective fabric provides better visibility during night paving

UNMATCHED PERFORMANCE

· Thicker design than most fiberglass-based paving mats, allows greater stress absorption to more efficiently slow fatigue and reflective cracking

· Proven performance equal to an additional 1.5" asphalt concrete overlay thickness

· Can be placed directly onto a milled surface without rupturing, unlike fiberglass-based products

· Retains at least 0.20 gal./sq./yd. asphalt cement to become a true, 10-4 cm/sec pavement moisture barrier

· Flexible design maintains an uncompromised moisture barrier, even if cracking does occur in the pavement

· Provides 360-degree strength for multi-directional performance

· Retains strength during installation and while in service better than fiberglass-based products

Polyguard NW 75, NW 665

NW-75 Pavement Underseal Membrane

Designed for concrete or asphalt repair on localized areas with failure amounting to less than 10% of the pavement surface area. The membrane is used prior to an asphalt overlay, and when placed on joints and pavement cracks, it will waterproof and reduce the extent and severity of reflective cracking. If installed on bridge decks, it acts as a waterproofing membrane, protecting and reinforcing steel in the deck from corrosion. The non-woven open fibers of the geotextile fabric backing on NW-75 provide a strong mechanical bond to the asphalt overlay.

Tensar Glasgrid 8501, 8502, 8511, 8512

GlasGrid® Asphalt Reinforcement System

The GlasGrid® Asphalt Reinforcement System is composed of fiberglass strands coated with an elastomeric polymer and formed into a grid structure. Each strand has a remarkably high tensile strength and high modulus of elasticity; this is particularly important as asphalt concrete typically cracks at low strains.

When the GlasGrid System is sandwiched between the leveling course and the surface course in an asphalt overlay, it becomes the hidden strength in the road, turning vertical crack stresses horizontally to effectively dissipate them.

Compogrid

GlasGrid® CG (Compogrid) System: Asphalt Reinforcement with a Moisture Barrier

For road construction projects that require a moisture barrier, Tensar offers the GlasGrid® CG (Compogrid) System. Incorporating a lightweight polypropylene fabric on the back of the main grid component, GlasGrid CG provides additional pavement protection on both new construction and pavement rehabilitation projects.

Glaspave 25 / Glaspave 50

The GlasPave® Mat’s capabilities are well suited to all pavement surfaces. Its geosynthetic, non-woven polyester matrix enables an asphalt binder to fully penetrate and fill voids within the matrix, limiting the infiltration of surface moisture into the granular layers of a pavement structure, ultimately preserving the strength of these layers. The matrix design also promotes a quick, strong bond with a variety of asphaltic tack coats. And like the GlasGrid® Asphalt Reinforcement System, the GlasPave Mat performs well even in the harshest environments similar to the GlasGrid® Asphalt Reinforcement System.
